Post Doctoral Research Associate
Guncha Bhasin joined Dr Ziad Nahas's lab as a postdoctoral researcher in July 2024. She has a Bachelor's degree in biotechnology from Banasthali University, India and a Masters and Ph.D. in Neuroscience from National Brain Research Centre, India. She is an in vivo electrophysiologist and a systems neuroscientist, with special focus on hippocampal physiology and spatial navigation and memory mechanisms. In her first postdoc at UNLV, she focused on examining physiological responses in the hippocampus and ACC in a hyperglycemic risk factor model of Alzheimer's disease.
She is delighted and thrilled to join Dr Nahas's lab as a postdoc as it gives her the rare opportunity to pivot to clinical neuroscience research with emphasis on mental health and depression, as well as examine electrophysiological responses in human patients. She looks forward to broadening her current skill set and furthering her career in clinical and translational neuroscience research, which allows her to contribute directly to novel neuromodulation therapeutic treatments in treatment resistant depression patients and hopefully make a positive impact on their lives.
