Rachel Johnson, MA, PhD

Managing Lab Partner

Rachel Johnson joined the Interventional Psychiatry lab in August 2021. She brings a diverse set of life experiences to the team, and her journey to clinical research has been tangential.

After an initial career teaching literacy skills to adult English language learners led to practitioner research in differences in acquisition rates based on trauma exposure, Rachel managed a school, then entered a doctoral program in cognitive science. She analyzed differences in cognitive impairment in US veterans with PTSD and co-morbid mental health conditions, managed a number of research studies, and successfully defended her dissertation over zoom in 2021.

Ziad Nahas's Interventional Psychiatry Lab was of strong interest, due to the care and compassion, as well as the rigor and integrity of its current studies. Rachel is delighted to have the opportunity to manage the lab alongside Dr. Nahas, coordinate cutting edge neuromodulation projects, and partner with dedicated team members and collaborators.
